Committees & Councils

The Government Affairs Committee examines, reports and makes recommendations on local, state and national legislation affecting the home building industry.  The Committee is also responsible for drafting issues statements for the Association to be submitted for Board approval.  Members are appointed by the NMHBA President.

The Building Issues Committee works closely with the NM Construction Industries Division (CID), and other regulatory agencies whose policies impact our industry to advise them of the industry’s views on matters about licensing, code enforcement; and to assist in developing code amendments and regulations.  The Committee’s priorities are the industry’s various technical construction issues, such as moisture intrusion, energy conservation measures, septic tank regulations, and other building science concerns.  Members are appointed by the NMHBA President.

The Finance Committee makes recommendations to the NMHBA Board regarding the Association’s annual budget, financial investments, and financial audits.    Members are appointed by the NMHBA President.

There are 6 meetings a year (most in Albuquerque).  Committee participation may be in person, or via video conferencing.
